The uneasiness about who will land the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator job has been with fans over the last two weeks.
There have been way too many candidates who have interviewed for the job and decided to withdraw from consideration. It is leaving the team with few options, as they have so far conducted second-round interviews with Green Bay Packers quarterback coach Sean Mannion and Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter.
Mannion seems to be getting a lot of attention, with people excited about the prospect of him becoming the Eagles' offensive coordinator. Chat Sports' Chase Senior shared comments that Packers reporter Peter Bukowski said about Mannion.
"The Packers think he's a future HC. They love him. Tom Clements was the QB Yoda in Green Bay forever. One of the best QB coaches of the modern era. Mannion was the hand-picked successor. He hasn't been coaching long, that's the only thing. He's a really bright young coach."
Should Eagles fans get excited about Sean Mannion as a potential OC?
Everyone's concern with Mannion is that he has only been a coach for two years. He started as an offensive assistant for the Packers in 2024 before getting promoted to quarterback coach in 2025.
That lack of experience of never being an offensive coordinator and never calling plays altogether is worrisome. This isn't about Mannion's potential, as it sounds like he might be a great offensive mind, but will the Eagles players respect him with all the money and accolades they have collected over the years?
Maybe this is more about the Eagles needing to think outside the box and bringing in a fresh perspective to the offense that is much needed. After the stale play-calling of Kevin Patullo in 2025, a new mind coming in and bringing his flavor to Philly might work.

The more Eagles hear about Mannion, the more convinced they are that he could be a good offensive coordinator. It might be time for the fan base to open up their minds to something that could completely change the Eagles' future.
