Philadelphia Eagles fans have not heard of many, if any, second-round interviews for the offensive coordinator job, but apparently, one is happening, and it has to be with a candidate Eagles fans are not interested in.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles are going to be completing their second round interview with Green Bay Packers quarterback coach Sean Mannion. This was expected after he had already done a first-round interview with the team.
Mannion is very new to coaching, having started as an offensive assistant with the Packers in 2024 after a long career as a backup quarterback in the NFL. He took over the quarterback coach role this past season and just finished up a run as the offensive coordinator for the West team in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
Does Sean Mannion make sense to be the Eagles' new OC?
It's a scary thought to think about someone who has been in coaching just two years to take over an offensive coordinator job in the toughest market in the NFL. Given the money spent on the offense and the Eagles' expectations, this is not an easy job.
Mannion would have to deal with A.J. Brown, who is not happy when he doesn't get the ball, or he might not, depending on what the Eagles do with Brown in the offseason. Another problem Mannion might have to deal with is the possibility that Lane Johnson is retiring from football, as he is arguably the most important player on the offensive line.
There will be questions about whether Mannion would be okay with Sirianni putting his input into the offense and saying what needs to happen. Even Sirianni's job security has been put into question, as coaching candidates may not want to deal with that stress.

Kevin Patullo was an inexperienced offensive play caller and didn't succeed in his first year, and was removed from his position. Mannion would be under a lot of pressure if he took the job, so the Eagles should strongly consider someone with more experience.
