The Eagles' defense has been stingy this season, and we've enjoyed seeing them improve weekly.

And, just like that, it's Week 13. The postseason picture is beginning to come into focus. The Philadelphia Eagles are staring up the ladder at the Detroit Lions. Wait! The Detroit Lions?

That's right boys and girls. This isn't your mom and dad's Lions squad. Somewhere Barry Sanders is looking for a time machine. Where in the heck was this culture when he was captivating our imaginations?

Don't fret Birds fans. The Lions have only lost once, but that doesn't mean they are unbeatable. Frankly, we believe the Eagles have a shot at securing the NFC's top seed when the postseason begins.

But, if they cross paths with the Lions, especially in Detroit, they'll need to score points. They'll also have to find ways to slow down Jared Goff and company. That also isn't impossible.

The NFL's top ten teams in terms of points per game allowed.

As complicated as the game of football can be sometimes with scheme and strategy, there are concepts that are extremely easy to understand. We don't have to complicate things here. The teams that score and keep their opponent from doing so often win.

Every NFL team has played 11 or 12 games this season. Philly's defense allowed an offensive onslaught by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4 but remain on of pro football's top units.

They rank first in total defense. They are top ten in points allowed.

Philly's defense will be tested in Week 13. Perhaps you've heard. The Baltimore Ravens are talented. They field the reigning MVP (Lamar Jackson) and Saquon Barkley's biggest obstacle to winning the rushing title (Derrick Henry).

King Henry playfully pled to Saquon Barkley following the Ravens' win on Monday Night Football. Pleasantries will be tossed out of the window at kickoff. Baltimore represents one of the Eagles' toughest tests on both sides of the ball this season.
