The 2026 NFL Draft gave the Philadelphia Eagles some great talent, but it might also have created some interesting positional battles going into training camp.
There is one in particular that has everyone's attention in Philly, which is the wide receiver position after the Eagles selected Makai Lemon in the first round. Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox named the Eagles' wide receiver position battle as one of the top ones in the NFL to watch entering training camp.
"With Brown's exit from Philadelphia feeling like a foregone conclusion, we're excited the Eagles have taken steps to prepare. Philly signed Marquise Brown, traded for Dontayvion Wicks, and then traded up in Round 1 to draft USC's Makai Lemon. Though Lemon and Brown are very different receivers, the rookie is best-suited to step in as the new top complement to DeVonta Smith."
"If the Eagles end up keeping Brown, Lemon will be a fine fit in the slot with Brown and Smith on the perimeter. We'd love to see how that looks. If the Eagles do trade Brown, we'll be eager to see how Philly's new-look receiving corps stacks up. And after seeing Brown repeatedly air his frustration with the Eagles offense last season, we're just as eager to see him get a fresh start."
Eagles' wide receiver position battle will be a fight in training camp
All signs are pointing towards Lemon being the starting slot receiver for the Eagles entering the season, as the team would want him to play early and often. That might be the only clear thing about the Eagles' wide receiver room outside of Smith being the number one guy, of course.
The interesting part is what will happen between Marquise Brown, Wicks, and even Elijah Moore. Brown and Wicks most likely will battle for the other outside wide receiver spot. While Wicks is younger and more of a possession receiver, Brown has more experience and has been a more consistent performer, so he might have a leg up on the competition.
Moore wasn't mentioned, but should be in the conversation. While he's closer to being a training camp casualty than a starter, there's always a fighter's chance he could surprise some people.

Lemon's arrival certainly complicated the situation at wide receiver, but the Eagles at least have a good problem: so many weapons in the passing game are ready to compete for jobs.
