The news Philadelphia Eagles fans have been waiting for finally came as the team decided to move on from Kevin Patullo as offensive coordinator.
NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo were the first to report the news that Patullo was out after one season as the offensive coordinator, but added that he could possibly stay on the staff for 2026. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni released a statement that shared more on the decision and how they came to it.
"I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator. I met with Kevin today to discuss the difficult decision, as he is a great coach who has my utmost respect. He has been integral to this team's success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product, but behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization. I have no doubt he will continue to have a successful coaching career.
Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals that responsibility lies on my shoulders."
Nick Sirianni makes it official that Kevin Patullo is not the offensive coordinator
Sirianni's statement is very telling, as it almost sounds like Patullo isn't actually coming back after being on the staff for five years. Patullo has been Sirianni's right-hand man for all those years, from passing game coordinator to offensive coordinator.
The Eagles' struggles on offense were well documented this season, which ended the exact same way it started. In the 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card game. The offense had nearly 200 yards in the first half but struggled to reach under 120 in the second.
This has been the whole season for the offense, as they were not able to put together four quarters of football. Patullo struggled to put any game plan together for the second half or make the necessary adjustments late in games to be creative with the play calling.
Because of that, the offense's numbers fell to career lows under Sirianni as head coach. They were in the bottom 15 in every offensive category, including total offense, passing, rushing, and scoring. The only thing they were good at was scoring in the red zone, which they did over 70% of the time.

Patullo is no longer a problem in Philadelphia, and now Sirianni has some tough decisions to make about who will replace him. Eagles fans can breathe now that a change has occurred.
