During this holiday season, everyone should feel joy at the chance to spend time with their families. Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni seems to have some agreement on that.
It seems to be the Eagles' latest message they have been following for some time, with clear evidence of this being the positivity rabbit the players added to the locker room for one week. It has been the message the players have been talking about since the Eagles shut out the Las Vegas Raiders 31-0 in Philly, including linebacker Nakobe Dean.
Sirianni brought it up in his weekly interview with SportsRadio 94 WIP, pushing the idea of feeling joy. Reporters finally asked him about it, and he had a clear objective.
“I've always thought that's very important," Sirianni said via njdotcom's Cayden Steele. "I've said that from the very beginning. You can go into a building and say, 'Man, I’ve got to go to work today' or 'Man, I get to go to work today.' That joy is part of it. In professional football, there are all these pressures and there's all these ups and downs and everything like this, but we got into this game because we loved it. I think that's a really important thing. I got into this through the grace of God of doing something I love for a living. I think that in the world, you can let things beat you down a lot and not really give knowledge to all the things that you have going on that are really good. I think that that's just part of it. I think that's just a healthy way to live, it's healthy for your life and it's healthy for a football team.”
Joy seems to be the central theme of the Eagles late in the season
It's hard to argue against trying to find joy during this time of the season, especially what this year has brought for the Eagles. The team has faced significant criticism during the three-game losing streak, and even before then, it was slammed for concerns about the offense.
After all that, it does seem the Eagles are turning a corner and really buying into the messaging from Sirianni, making sure they find joy wherever they can. Pitching a shutout with 75 yards allowed and three touchdowns from their star quarterback, Jalen Hurts, certainly helps with that.

Three games remain, and the Eagles need to keep that same positive energy going as they fight for one more win to enter the postseason. Anything short of that would be far from having any joy the rest of the year.
