If someone polls the city of Philadelphia about whether they were happy that Kevin Patullo got removed as offensive coordinator for the Eagles, every single person would say they agreed with the move.
It was a rough one-and-only season with Patullo as offensive coordinator, and now the Eagles are searching for their fourth play caller in four years. Philly finished in the bottom 15 in the major offensive categories under Patullo, including total offense, passing, rushing, and scoring.
At the Eagles' end-of-year press conference, head coach Nick Sirianni was asked about Patullo potentially staying on the staff, noting that he was never fired by the team. Sirianni is certainly leaving that door open for Patullo to come back.
"We'll see how it plays out," Sirianni said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "I know Kevin's going to have other opportunities, and obviously always want what's best for Kevin, and for his family, so we'll see how that plays out."
Kevin Patullo could be on Eagles' staff in 2026, but will that happen?
When the Eagles fired Brian Johnson in his lone year as offensive coordinator in 2023, he did not have the option to return to the staff. For Patullo to be afforded the chance to come back speaks volumes to how the team feels about him.
Now, it is common knowledge that Sirianni and Patullo are friends, so that could play a massive role in that happening, but there are other factors too. Patullo has been a strong asset to the staff, and based on what fans have seen in his short time as offensive coordinator, he is good at game planning, which has led to strong first-half starts.
Patullo was removed as offensive coordinator because he couldn't adjust in the second half. He would play it too safe, running up the middle on first and second down, while showing a lack of creativity in his play calls to catch defenses off guard.
The likelihood of Patullo coming back in 2026 seems very unlikely, as that relationship has been tarnished. Why would Patullo come back to a place that scapegoated him as the main problem with the offense and work under a coach who has just held his position?

It's more than likely that Patullo ends up going elsewhere after five years on Sirianni's staff, and getting a fresh start isn't a bad thing. That might be beneficial for Patullo and the Eagles to part ways and move on, but fans will watch to see if Patullo lands elsewhere.
