There is a lot of pressure on the Philadelphia Eagles to nail this offensive coordinator hire, but more importantly, there are certain guidelines that fans want the team to follow.
Most fans have been screaming for the Eagles to hire an offensive coordinator who will stay more than one year on the team. Since Nick Sirianni became head coach, he has had four different play-callers in five years, with Jalen Hurts having five since being drafted in 2020.
While addressing the media at the end-of-year press conference, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman answered that question head-on, but his response actually made logical sense to the crowd that wants continuity with the offensive coordinator.
“As much as you’d like to have continuity and would like to have guys here for a long period of time, we want to win," Roseman said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "We have an urgency to win right now. And if that comes with the ramifications that we lose good people because they’ve earned head coaching jobs, we’ll live with that."
Howie Roseman admits to price to pay on winning that makes sense
The reality is that two of the offensive coordinators, Shane Steichen and Kellen Moore, have left for head coaching jobs in the last four years. While it is tough to see those guys leave, it is a good sign that the Eagles are developing good talent from the coaching staff.
Most people want to have a coordinator like Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Someone who can run the whole offense, but not have the threat of them leaving for a head coaching job or taking another coordinator job.
Right now, the top candidates of the Eagles are former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll. McDaniel has been interviewing for multiple head coaching jobs, so there's a chance he could leave if he were hired. The same could happen with Daboll in the next few years.

The Eagles shouldn't apologize for having their coaches promoted to head coaches elsewhere, as that is a strong sign they are doing the right things and winning a lot of games. Philly just needs to focus on hiring the right guy and making sure they don't have another disaster like Kevin Patullo in the future.
