The search for a new offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles is underway, with head coach Nick Sirianni looking to get the position filled after removing Kevin Patullo from the role.

There have been multiple lists of candidates that everyone thinks the Eagles should go after for the job. The Athletic's Dianna Russini revealed what her sources are telling her about the top targets for the position.

"The Philadelphia Eagles have begun reaching out to candidates regarding their offensive coordinator vacancy.

Former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll are at the top of their list, sources say."

Eagles nailing the top two candidates for the OC job

Mike McDaniel had a nice run with his offense as the Miami Dolphins head coach before getting fired. In three of the four years he coached there, the offense was ranked in the top 13.

One major advantage for McDaniel is his ability to adapt to what works on offense. During the 2025 season, his quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, struggled with turnovers in a pass-heavy offense, so McDaniel leaned on the running game to help them get through the season, which led to a 13th-ranked rushing offense.

There is a chance that McDaniel could get a head coaching job in this coaching cycle, but if he doesn't, he might be able to land one next year. That would be the massive risk with bringing in McDaniel is the chance Sirianni and the Eagles would take losing their play caller.

Daboll only had one winning season as the New York Giants' head coach, but he was able to get Daniel Jones rolling in that one season. He is also known for the work he has done with Josh Allen early in his career with the Buffalo Bills, and turning him into the superstar he is now.

There are two major advantages with Daboll for the Eagles: he has coached two of the players on offense with Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley, and he's not being interviewed for head coaching jobs. Daboll is more likely to stick around as an offensive coordinator if he is brought in and knows how to properly develop Hurts, since Daboll coached him at Alabama.
