This offseason was a major overhaul for the Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver room, with a ton of changes.
Jahan Dotson left in free agency, and A.J. Brown was traded to the New England Patriots last month. The Eagles then added more pieces to the puzzle with Dontayvion Wicks, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Elijah Moore, and rookie Makai Lemon.
Those four are going to be supporting DeVonta Smith, who officially takes over as the new number-one receiver on the team. There is a bit of mystery about how the Eagles will look offensively in 2026, and a lot of that will be solved depending on how the receivers perform.
Blunt thoughts were shared about the Eagles' 2026 wide receiver room
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni helped with that mystery by sharing his thoughts on the room he's got. Sirianni spoke with reporters before heading off for the summer and couldn't stop gushing about the group, with a specific focus on the first player he ever drafted, Smith.
"I think that I'm really excited about this receiver room," Sirianni said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. 'DeVonta Smith is just, he's a special player that can continue to get even more targets...He's so capable of doing even more, and he's phenomenal, he is such a good football player."
Smith led the Eagles in receiving last season with 1,008 yards, five more than A.J. Brown. In his five-year NFL career, Smith has gone for over 1,000 yards three times in that span, but has never made a Pro Bowl. He's spent the offseason learning how to be a number one receiver and preparing for the moment, giving Eagles fans confidence that he's ready.
Sirianni next spoke about Wicks, who came to Philly via trade from the Green Bay Packers. Wicks got a strong comparison from Sirianni.
"Then 'Tay Wicks has this great ability — gosh, there are so many similarities, and again, this is going to be a high praise statement and and I'm not saying he's this guy, but gosh, he reminds me of Keenan Allen ...with the way they are off the line of scrimmage, the way they are at the top of the route, with the way they are with the ball in their hands, he just really reminds me of him in that aspect."
Wicks has lost his place in the Packers' offense over the last few years, making his trade inevitable. He will physically take over Brown's spot on the outside and be seen as a goal-line threat for the Eagles.
There will be a lot of eyes on the rookie first-round pick and how Lemon will rise to the occasion. Sirianni saw a few specific traits in him that made him believe he was the right guy to draft.
"Makai, obviously, we drafted him for a reason, where we drafted him. He has this ability to catch the football, and in tough situations."
Lemon went for over 1,100 yards last season at USC and won the Fred Biletnikoff Award for being the nation's best wide receiver. He will now play in the slot for the Eagles and help them on third down, as well as catch the ball with all the attention going to Smith.
Brown and Moore were free agent additions to give the Eagles more veteran experience at wide receiver. Sirianni has a role for each of them.
"I've liked Marquis Brown and Elijah Moore for a long time. I've really always admired their game of how they played, and it's just been nice to see them. They have these really special traits. To have our third, fourth receiver be these guys. I'm really excited about this room."
Brown will be the deep threat receiver for the Eagles when they need a big play. Moore will most likely have to battle for one of the final spots on the roster with Darius Cooper and Johnny Wilson.
Cooper and Wilson were shouted out by Sirianni as good depth pieces at wide receiver. Quez Watkins and Danny Gray were also mentioned as practice squad candidates for the Eagles.

There are many in the media who believe the Eagles will have a drop-off offensively because A.J. Brown is no longer there. With how deep the wide receiver room is now, it feels like that's an overreaction, as this might be the best the Eagles have seen the group in a long time.
