One of the main storylines in the 2026 NFL Draft for the Philadelphia Eagles is who they might select as the next replacement for wide receiver A.J. Brown, following a recent ESPN report that he will likely be traded to the New England Patriots.

The Eagles have so far added Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Elijah Moore, and Dontayvion Wicks on the roster, and could be in the market for one more to add to the room. One of those options might come in the first round with Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., who has been mocked to fall to the Eagles at 23.

While speaking with NFL insider Josina Anderson, Cooper opened up about the possibility of him going to Philly to replace A.J. Brown.

“I mean just the history, especially over the past like three to four years with the Eagles, that’d be an amazing opportunity…really great team," Cooper said. "It would be a big role to fill, especially with AJ Brown, really great player. Like I said about Deebo (Samuel) earlier, just has really done good things in the league; but, that’d be something I would be looking forward to. Also, being able to learn from Devonta Smith. Watching him when he was at Alabama, and then obviously what he’s done now in the league, again that would be just amazing to be next to him and also learn from him. So, I would be really excited for that.”

Should the Eagles target Omar Cooper Jr. in the NFL Draft?

Cooper was a key piece of the Indiana Hoosiers' national championship run last year, as he went for 69 receptions, 937 yards, and 13 touchdowns. He landed as a second-team All-Big Ten selection.

The Eagles have shown interest in Cooper this offseason, as they held a 30-visit with him. Most mock drafts have Philly selecting a wide receiver somewhere within the first three rounds of the draft.

While guys like Wicks, Moore, and Hollywood are good for the Eagles' offense, they need a longer-term solution, and Cooper is that guy. DeVonta Smith and Cooper would complement each other's skill sets well, helping bring back some life to the passing game and get fans excited.

Cooper was asked by Anderson about that same fan base and what he thinks of when discussing the Eagles. There is one player from the past that Cooper connects directly with the Eagles.

“I would definitely say Jason Kelce…Him being a former player, being there for years. He was just a really great player for their team; really good leader as well. Just everything he does; I mean he really loves football. He loves his family, really good character. So, that would be why I would choose him.”

Kelce would probably join the Eagles fan base with a big smile on his face if he saw the team select Cooper in the first round.
