After the disappointment of the 2025 season for the Philadelphia Eagles, this offseason has brought one big decision after another for the franchise.

The first one is obviously who will be running the offense for at least the 2026 season after removing Kevin Patullo as offensive coordinator. There are other important decisions to make, including free agents and whether they should trade star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon wrote one sentence for each team eliminated from Super Bowl contention that perfectly describes them. Gagnon's sentence for the Eagles won't get many arguments from the fan base.

"Considering the state of the offense under Jalen Hurts and some public frustration on the side, this offensive coordinator hire could have a seismic impact on the future of this core."

Eagles must find the right offensive coordinator to get back to the Super Bowl

The Eagles' offensive coordinator search has not gone according to plan. Guys like Mike McDaniel and Zac Robinson are out of the picture. While Brian Daboll was originally thought of as being out might still be in the running after all. Other names like Jim Bob Cooter, Mike Kafka, and Declan Doyle are gaining a lot of traction.

Philly has to make sure they knock this hire out of the park, as it could have big implications for the future. Who they hire might help Brown decide whether to request another trade. It could also have an effect on future Hall of Fame right tackle Lane Johnson on whether he retires or comes back.

This will be big for Hurts' development, as he has had only one offensive play caller in the last 10 years between college and the pros stay more than one year. If the Eagles want Hurts to take his game to the next level, he needs someone who is going to stay for a while.

The biggest reason to get a good offensive coordinator is to fix what was once one of the best running games in the NFL. Saquon Barkley needs more creativity with the run blocking schemes and could use a few more carries a game from his former Pro Bowl quarterback.

An energy jolt is what this offense needs, and it must have a new, creative outlook to make it fresh again. If the Eagles don't get this hire right, it might be more than just the offensive coordinator who loses his job after 2026.
