One thought for each Eagles roster move announced before Philly tackles Giants

The Eagles announce roster moves ahead of their game vs. the New York Giants. Here are a few thoughts about each one.

Damn! How long has it been since we've seen Dallas Goedert rep for the Philadelphia Eagles on the playing surface? Was it that three-reception, one-TD performance vs. the Baltimore Ravens? Yep! We believe it was. Gosh, that was a long time ago! So much has happened since that game.

Dallas found his way to the injured reserve. He sat out of the four games he was then required to miss. Philly notched three wins during those four games he was absent.

Grant Calcaterra filled in admirably. The Birds' only blemish was that tough 36-33 loss in Landover. Let's not act like Philly doesn't need Goedert though. On the eve of the regular season-finale, he was elevated back to the active roster as one of three moves that were announced.

Here are thoughts on each one.

Dallas Goedert is reinserted to the active roster from the injured reserve.

Underutilized as he is, Dallas Goedert, from a talent perspective, is one of the NFL's best tight ends. Few playing his position can catch and block with equal proficiency.

We thought this announcement might come when Philly announced they had opened his 21-day practice window. It's good to see him back in the lineup with the playoffs looming,

We'd recommend letting him play. That will give him a tune-up game. It will also give Tanner McKee a good target in the passing game as the latter will more than likely play for the Eagles as their starter.

Eagles announce the elevations of LB Dallas Gant and DE Charles Harris for Sunday's game vs. the Giants.

This isn't totally shocking. Nakobe Dean is hurt. Josh Sweat and Nolan Smith won't be playing. This gives the Eagles extra bodies for the defense. We don't expect Dallas Gant and Charles Harris will play very much unless there's some sort of medical emergency.

Gant was a rookie free agent signing acquired by the Vikings following the 2024 NFL Draft. He stands at six-foot-two. He tips the scales at 224 pounds. He was also teammates with Eagles rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell at Toledo.

Harris is a former first-round draft choice. He played for the Eagles during three games earlier this season.

He was waived three days after Christmas but was reacquired and added to the practice squad on New Year's Eve. Gant and Harris will wear the Number 52 and 95 jerseys respectively.
