The Eagles' offseason will be exciting with the number of decisions they'll have to make in the front office. One of those players is Jaelan Phillips, who is in the final year of his rookie deal playing on a fifth-year option and has been a welcome spark-plug for the Eagles' pass rush.

Coming off another disruptive game against the Buffalo Bills, Phillips put together another solid performance as the Eagles made a push for the second seed in the NFC playoff picture. Phillips totaled six tackles, five pressures, three hurries, and a sack while also being credited with a forced fumble, continuing to be one of the NFL's best acquisitions at the trade deadline.

Jaelan Phillips is forcing Eagles to cough up big money for him

Phillips has been a one-man wrecking crew since joining the Eagles. He's totaled four pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, two sacks, 28 tackles, and four tackles for loss in eight games with Philadelphia.

What's even more impressive is that the Eagles' pass rush as a unit has improved immensely due to opposing offenses hyper-focusing on Phillips coming off the EDGE. The Eagles' defense has surpassed their 2024 sack total with 42.0 in 2025, including 18 over the past four games, mainly from a four-man rush.

Overall, the unit has totaled 25 sacks since acquiring Phillips, which is the fourth most in the NFL during that span.

The Eagles have plenty of questions about who to resign, who to extend, and who to exercise the fifth-year option on this coming offseason. With Phillips, though, he'll have a decent price tag on him; the way he's elevated not just his play, but the overall output of the Eagles demands serious attention to his status with Philadelphia moving into the offseason.

Phillips' play week in and week out has continued to invigorate Philadelphia despite the offensive woes the team has been victim to over the last couple of weeks. Phillips will have one more chance to improve his stellar run with the Eagles as Philadelphia finishes the season with the oft-injured Washington Commanders in Week 18.
