Penn State is looking like a great place for the Philadelphia Eagles to look for NFL Draft prospects especially since they are so close to the school.
Players like Drew Shelton have caught the Eagles' attention and are having pre-draft visits. According to Sports Illustrated's Jeff Kerr, the Eagles are also going to visit Penn State running back Nicholas Singleton, as it will be considered a local visit rather than a 30-visit.
Singleton had quite the four-year run at Penn State as he rushed for over 1,000 yards twice with his career total at 3,461 yards and had 55 career touchdowns that included 45 on the ground, nine receiving, and one kickoff. He made the All-Big Ten team in 2022 and 2023 and was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2022 as well as named to the Freshman All-American team.
Eagles are set to visit with Nicholas Singleton
The Eagles also spoke with Singleton at the NFL Combine, so there is already some familiarity with him. There seems to be genuine interest in bringing in the former Penn State running back.
Philly has had good experiences with Penn State running backs in recent years, as they got strong production from former second-round pick Miles Sanders. The Eagles also have one in the backfield right now in Saquon Barkley, who's pretty good after rushing for over 2,000 yards in 2024.
Singleton is versatile and can do it all; he came into college highly recruited as one of the top players in the nation, but never really lived up to it, as he played well but with too many inconsistencies. He is also dealing with a foot injury that kept him from running at the Combine or Pro Day, leaving some questions about him.
The backfield in Philly is crowded right now behind Barkley, as they have Will Shipley, Tank Bigsby, and Dameon Pierce. Adding a Singleton to the picture would complicate matters for the Eagles.

It wouldn't be a bad option for the Eagles to look at Singleton, though, as he's got the potential to be a great back in the NFL if he is in the right system. Philly has had good success with backup running backs over the years, and Singleton could be the next one the team could develop.
