The Philadelphia Eagles are closing in on finishing up their pre-draft visits before rolling into the 2026 NFL Draft.
An interesting part of the process is how many quarterbacks they have met with along the way. Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer confirmed that he met with the Philadelphia Eagles as part of the pre-draft visits.
"I’ve definitely been very busy," Altmyer told NFL Draft On SI's Justin Melo. "I’ve met with the Las Vegas Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, and Indianapolis Colts. Those have been the most recent virtual meetings. All of them were fairly in depth. I’ve also spent some time talking with the Baltimore Ravens lately as well. I’ve been very busy. These teams are getting ready to make their NFL Draft decisions. I’ve just been trying to do my part."
Eagles met with another quarterback in Luke Altmyer
Altmyer had a successful three-year run at Illinois as their starting quarterback, which began with his first two years attending Ole Miss. In his five-year college career, he threw for 7.924 yards and 60 touchdowns and 24 interceptions, while also rushing for 744 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Over the last few months, the Eagles have also met with other quarterbacks like Monmouth's Derek Robertson and Rutgers' Athan Kaliakmanis. They have also been attached to Alabama's Ty Simpson in NFL mock drafts over the last few weeks.
It's becoming clearer now that the Eagles are looking at a quarterback in the draft, but more likely on Day 3 or signing an undrafted free agent. Selecting Simpson would be a stunner, but another quarterback like Altmyer or Kaliakmanis makes more sense as they can use their earlier picks on positions that need it more.
