Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles selected quarterback Kyle McCord in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Now, he's on the Green Bay Packers, as he lasted just one season.
That leaves a gap at quarterback despite already having Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee, and Andy Dalton there. The Eagles love to have at least one young quarterback they can develop, as they did with McKee.
NFL reporter Arye Pulli reported that Rutgers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis will visit six teams, including the Eagles. Last year was a career season for Kaliakmanis, as he passed for 3,124 yards and 20 touchdowns, with seven interceptions.
Eagles are showing interest in Athan Kaliakmanis as the next young QB to develop
Despite being seen as a Day 3 pick in the draft, Kaliakmanis has shown great potential as he has been a full time starting quarterback over the last three years with Rutgers and Minnesota. While his stat line won't wow anyone, he has demonstrated the ability to protect the football and, at times, use his legs.
Putting Kaliakmanis in the same room as Hurts, McKee, and Dalton would be a massive benefit to the team. McKee is seen as either a trade-bait option for the Eagles or as someone who will eventually leave to compete for a starting job elsewhere, and Dalton is a year or two away from retirement.
Kaliakmanis would at least give the Eagles a plan of attack at quarterback behind Hurts in the next few years. There has been speculation that if Philly doesn't see progress with Hurts, his future might be in question, but picking someone like Kaliakmanis would at least quiet that noise a bit.

The Eagles will have some options there at quarterback on Day 3, but Kaliakmanis would be a fascinating prospect to bring in and develop for the next few years.
