There is certainly a changing of the guard on offense for the Philadelphia Eagles with a new play caller and beginning life without A.J. Brown.
Sean Mannion takes over as the offensive coordinator, bringing the Sean McVay/Kyle Shanahan-style offense to Philly that has been needed for years to help Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts progress in his development. Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox thinks the best-case scenario for the Eagles on offense in 2026 is simple: new-look offense finds an early passing rhythm.
"During their 2024 run to the Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles had arguably the most complete team in football. While they still had the league's fifth-ranked scoring defense in 2025, though, their offense—and, specifically, the passing attack—continued to regress."
"Philly took some big steps to overhaul its offense this offseason. It replaced coordinator Kevin Patullo with Sean Mannion, and it added receivers Marquise Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, and Makai Lemon before trading A.J. Brown. If the changes lead to better chemistry in the passing game, the Eagles offense should be back to where it was a few years ago, and Philly should be back in the Super Bowl mix."
Jalen Hurts could benefit from the best-case scenario coming true
All the focus is on the passing game after that portion of the offense has struggled over the last two years. Hurts has been more conservative with his decisions after having a career-high 15 interceptions in 2023, but he has also seen the passing game decrease in efficiency as the focus is more on short completions.
Mannion's offense will be able to give Hurts the balance that he needs between testing the ball down the field and still doing what he does best. This will add a whole new element to Hurts' game as they attack the middle of the field more often and use more pre-snap motions with the receivers, tight ends, and running backs.
Even something as simple as adding more RPOs will help open up the offense. Last year, Hurts ran the ball less, which caused teams to not respect his legs more often, but running him more will throw defenses off guard with what they need to handle.
Brown may not be in Philly anymore, but this passing game still has plenty of weapons to lean on, with DeVonta Smith being the star of the group. Adding in Makai Lemon, Dallas Goedert, and Eli Stowers gives the Eagles more weapons in the passing than they have had in a long time.

As long as they can get Hurts going early and often in the passing game, the hope is that this Eagles offense will get back to the stellar group fans remembered them to be with Hurts back in 2022.
