Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is keeping a very close eye on what is going on in South Beach, as the Miami Dolphins have decided to gut their roster with multiple releases.

The first big domino to fall was edge rusher Bradley Chubb, who would make a decent option for the Eagles since he previously played under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. One other big-name release, though, might be tempting for the Eagles, but they should stay away from it.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the Dolphins are also releasing wide receiver Tyreek Hill. While in Miami over the last four years, Hill was a two-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro.

Why the Eagles must stay away from Tyreek Hill

With everything going on with star receiver A.J. Brown, the temptation might be there for the Eagles to try to sign Hill if they indeed trade Brown away. Despite Hill being one of the top receivers in the NFL over the last decade, with eight Pro Bowl selections and five All-Pro selections, it would be a colossal mistake for Philly.

Hill has had legal issues, which make his potential off-the-field issues very scary for the Eagles, as they can't afford that kind of attention for the team after last year's drama-filled season. There is also concern about his ACL and knee injury from last season, and whether he will be available to start the season.

If the Eagles really want to trade Brown and replace him, they are better off getting it done during the 2026 NFL Draft and use one of their early picks to acquire one. They can use that pick as the perfect WR2 for DeVonta Smith and the offense would be in better shape. Philly could also consider signing former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs since he knows new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion from their days in Green Bay.

It's always fun to make hypotheticals, but this is one that can be shut down as soon as possible and move on from.
