With the regular season now just 54 days away, the Philadelphia Eagles have a fascinating early slate of showdowns on tap.

The opener against the visiting Commanders will, of course, provide fans with the official introduction of the Sean Mannion-Jalen Hurts-led offense, while Weeks 3 and 4 will feature matchups with a pair of NFC heavweights in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, quietly nestled in the pack, there lies a classic "look ahead" spot in Week 2, when Philadelphia will travel to Tennessee to face a Titans franchise that figures to be far different from years gone past.

Eagles better be ready to play Titans in Week 2

With Philadelphia set to head to Nashville to clash with the Titans, an emerging franchise quarterback could be poised for a big second season with a vastly different supporting cast of viable weapons.

Cam Ward has been highlighted by many in the media as a potential Year 2 breakout candidate, and the 2025 first overall pick played some strong football down the stretch of his rookie season.

Now, Ward returns with an impressive array of new talent at the skill positions, including first-round dynamo Carnell Tate out of Ohio State. The All-American wide receiver now gives Ward a top target for the Birds' secondary to contend with, and another new Titans playmaker is a player the Eagles are quite familiar with.

Former Giants wideout Wan'Dale Robinson packed his bags and headed to Music City via free agency, and he offers Ward another dangerous option as well. And former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll is settling in as the Titans' new offensive coordinator, adding another interesting wrinkle of NFC East lineage for this affair.

At the helm, new head coach Robert Saleh will have his defense flying to the ball. Defensively, Jeffery Simmons was recently polled as the No. 2-ranked defensive tackle (11 sacks), and the interior lineman will be out to disrupt this revamped Philadelphia offense.

The home opener in Week 1 should provide the perfect platform for Philadelphia to unleash its new-look offense. That's against a struggling Washington defense with much to prove, the sort of opener that could provide fireworks and high spirits headed into Week 2.

And with the Bears and Rams locked and loaded in Weeks 3 and 4, big rematches from 2025 await the Birds. Smack in the middle, though, upstart Tennessee lurks, and an early-season triumph over visiting Philadelphia would be a tremendous lift for Saleh, Ward, Daboll and company.

Add it all up, and the early road trip to Music City has all the makings of a "look ahead" spot. You can bet Tennessee has it circled on the calendar, so the Eagles would be wise to absolutely remember the Titans.
