The Philadelphia Eagles have surely taken a beating this offseason with multiple things going wrong for the franchise, as the loss of Christian Parker to the Dallas Cowboys was just the cherry on top of the cake.
Dallas hired Parker to be the new defensive coordinator after firing Matt Eberflus, who was one and one. Parker was a rising star on the Eagles' coaching staff, serving as defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator, helping develop some of the top defensive talent, including All-Pros Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
With Parker's departure, there is a hole on defense in the Eagles' coaching staff that needs to be filled quickly. One coach already on staff feels like the perfect fit to solve that problem and keep the secondary rolling.
Watch for Joe Kasper to have a bigger role in the Eagles' secondary
For those who don't know, Joe Kasper is currently the Eagles' safeties coach and finished his second year in that role in Philly. The team is familiar with his work, though, as he was the defensive quality control coach in 2021 and 2022 before joining Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio with the Miami Dolphins in 2023 as their safeties coach for one year.
Similar to Parker, Kasper is a name that many Eagles beat reporters have brought up since the Cowboys news as a guy to watch out for. He is an up-and-coming coach who has already shown his worth to the Eagles.
Kasper has done a great job developing Reed Blankenship as one of the leaders on defense. While rookie Andrew Mukuba's play was up and down at the beginning of the 2025 season, before his ankle injury, Mukuba showed Philly that he can be a future starter there for a long time.

Watch for Fangio to consider Kasper for a bigger role in the secondary and to potentially take over as defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator for the Eagles. Kasper looks to be another one who, if he keeps doing well, the Eagles could lose him soon as well.
