The Philadelphia Eagles seem to be ending the run of coaching hires they need to make for the 2026 staff as they make another addition.
CBS Sports reporter Matt Zanitz shared that the Eagles are expected to hire Army defensive line coach Allen Smith to the staff as their new assistant outside linebackers coach. Smith had previously worked in the NFL with the Houston Texans as their assistant defensive line coach.
This is now the second hire made to the Eagles coaching staff in the last 24 hours. Philly also hired former Houston Texans quarterback coach Jerrod Johnson to an unspecified role on the staff.
Eagles make yet another hire to the coaching staff
For Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, his side of the ball has seen some turnover with coaches coming and going. Fangio has lost defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator Christian Parker to the Dallas Cowboys to be their defensive coordinator and Ronell Williams to the Las Vegas Raiders in the past month.
Last week, the Eagles added Beyah Rasool to the staff as their new defensive assistant. Rasool's role was not revealed when the news came in.
Smith comes in to replace Williams and help coaching the outside linebackers. He will be working with edge rushers like Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith. There's a chance that Jaelan Phillips could be in the equation if he gets re-signed and avoids free agency.
When looking at the hires the Eagles have made, they should be getting close to the end of the line for them, and there is a strong chance that the finalized coaching staff could be announced sometime in the week, with free agency less than 10 days away.

Whether these new coaches can help the Eagles get back to the Super Bowl is a new question in itself.
