A.J. Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the main topics of the NFL offseason, as the football world has waited to see if the star receiver will be traded. While. It hasn’t officially happened yet, but all signs point to a move taking place on or after June 1.

It’s the worst-kept secret in the league, and even Eagles players are having a hard time acting as if a Brown trade isn’t on the horizon. Recently, Philadelphia defensive back Cooper DeJean appeared on Takeoff with John Clark, and he was asked about how difficult it is to watch this saga ensue.

DeJean admitted that he and Brown had been speaking pretty often throughout all the noise, as they are great friends, and nothing will change that. However, the defensive back understands that the NFL is a business, and he knows that business will likely result in his close friend no longer being his teammate.

Cooper DeJean says he will miss A.J. Brown if he’s traded, but understands the NFL is a business

The defensive back said he will miss seeing Brown in the building and also going up against him on the field. DeJean admitted he learned from Brown and will always appreciate the veteran receiver for instilling confidence in him. While DeJean made sure to qualify his comments with “if he’s gone,” his tone and statements made it clear that he knows a trade is inevitable.

That has been understood in the NFL for a while, with the New England Patriots as the expected destination for the veteran receiver. The only reason the move hasn’t happened yet is that the Eagles must wait until after June 1 to avoid a significant cap penalty. If that wasn’t the case, it’s safe to say Brown’s time in Philadelphia would already officially be done.

Either way, Brown isn’t expected to play another down for the Eagles. After four seasons, two Pro Bowls, and a Super Bowl win, the wideout will move to his third team. Turning 29 years old this offseason and coming off his sixth 1,000-yard season, Brown has the ability to still be a top wideout.

The Eagles, on the other hand, have been preparing for his departure, adding multiple receivers to the roster this offseason.
