There might have been a lot of unnecessary bad press around Jalen Hurts in the Fanatics Flag Football game, but Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith caught everyone's attention in the best way.

One of the standouts in the event was Smith and the multiple great plays he made for his Founders team. Despite not winning it all and watching Team USA win the event, Smith still shined as one of the top players in the game, as CBS Sports writer Tyler Sullivan called him out as someone who deserves to be on the 2028 Olympics team for the United States.

"Smith was another standout, hauling in multiple touchdowns and looking comfortable in the format. He also showed great awareness on a tip drill touchdown on a deep ball from Jalen Hurts that was initially intended for Stefon Diggs. Smith will be 29 at the time of the Olympics."

Did DeVonta Smith do enough to earn his way onto Team USA in 2028?

NFL players got exposed pretty badly in the tournament as Team USA players with guys who have played flag football for years just looked superior to them. Team USA's understanding of the rules and the elusiveness they used was just too much for the other two teams to handle.

Smith was one of the bright spots among the NFL players, as he just got it. He was hard to get the flag from and made all the plays his team needed. Smitty had the whole package that would make him a perfect fit for Team USA in two years.

There is debate now more than ever about whether NFL players should even be allowed in the Olympics, as it's clear they don't know enough about flag football to make it a legitimate competition. Some have added that having a few star NFL players would be good for the Olympics to have eyes on the spot and the event.

The performance by Smith should be enough to warrant a conversation about his being in the Olympics in 2028.
