Every Philadelphia Eagles fan would like to bury the 2025 offense and never talk about it again for the rest of their lives.
This was arguably one of the worst offenses the Eagles have had in the last two decades. They were ranked 24th in total offense with 311.2 yards per game and 23rd in passing with 194.3 yards per game.
While everyone pins the struggles on former one-and-done offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, it may not have been all that bad for the offense. Senior NFL researcher Tony Holzman-Escareno shared an interesting stat: the Eagles were actually the best in the league last year in fewest giveaways in their own territory, with four.
Eagles were the best at protecting the football in their own territory
If it hadn't been for that wild five-turnover game in the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers last year, the Eagles would actually be the best in the NFL in giveaways. Instead, they were tied for fourth with 15 giveaways in 17 regular season games. Still pretty good numbers for them.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had only six interceptions on the season, with four of them coming in that Chargers game, where he also had a fumble. Besides that, though, Hurts played pretty much clean football the whole season for the Eagles, almost sometimes to a fault, as some thought he was too conservative at times.
The giveaway stat was not enough for Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni to make the easy decision to let go of Patullo and hire Sean Mannion as the new offensive coordinator. A fresh start and a look at the offense could give the Birds exactly what they need.

One thing that Mannion will not have to worry about is the offense giving the ball away, as he can just focus on getting them into the end zone more often.
