Nothing is going to help with the pain of the early exit in the playoffs by the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles fell to the San Francisco 49ers 23-19 in the NFC Wild Card game after a horrendous second half, leading to Kevin Patullo's firing as Philly's offensive coordinator. For Eagles fans to have to sit in the Linc to watch that loss already hurt enough, but even just sitting in front of the television on the couch, the Eagles found a way to hurt them.
Despite a classic first game between the Denver Broncos and the Buffalo Bills that will see the team from the Mountain West advancing, the second matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers was about as ugly as it gets. The Seahawks led from the opening kickoff, scoring a touchdown, and never let it go, winning 41-6 over the 49ers to advance to the NFC Championship game.
The Eagles losing to the 49ers is just so much worse
It's hard to believe that the 49ers, which had multiple injuries on defense and didn't have George Kittle, were able to beat the Eagles. San Francisco finished with 236 yards and three turnovers, while allowing the Seahawks to gain 175 yards on the ground in the loss.
Everyone knew that the Eagles were more talented on paper in the Wild Card game, but ultimately, it was the seven penalties and 114 yards of offense in the second half that doomed them. It doesn't help that Patullo called a bad game, and A.J. Brown, who was yelling to get the ball more all year, dropped two critical passes in the contest.
