The 2025 season was a major letdown for the Philadelphia Eagles after winning the Super Bowl the previous year, despite finishing with 11 wins and the NFC East title for the second straight season.
Many Eagles fans were disappointed in the major regression the offense took under one-and-done offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, which led to an early playoff exit. Despite all the changes and fresh faces on the Eagles, Bleacher Report writer Brad Gagnon is not as excited about the team, with his excitement meter at just six.
"You can't go much lower than a six for a prime contender, but it's status quo for a still-flawed team that may be trading away its No. 1 receiver. It's hard to get too fired up here."
Eagles fans might not want to get excited about the 2026 season....or should they?
Losing key players on defense like Jaelan Phillips, Reed Blankenship, and Nakobe Dean was tough and raised some questions about the defense. The biggest concern with this team is how they will function without wide receiver A.J. Brown, who is expected to be traded after June 1.
Even with those concerns, there is plenty to be excited about. New Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion is bringing in a brand new scheme that matches what Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan are doing now, which should open up the offense. The future of the offense looks great with rookie weapons Makai Lemon and Eli Stowers on the roster now.
One thing that should be brought up, though, in response to Gagnon's comment is that the Eagles aren't trading away the team's number one receiver right now. Maybe the last three years, but Brown is not that guy anymore, as DeVonta Smith is the number one receiver, and plenty of Eagles fans are excited to see him finally get his time in the spotlight as WR1, as he deserves.

There might be more uncertainty than excitement with what Gagnon is saying, but Eagles fans are looking forward to seeing how this new-look franchise plays in 2026 and if they can get back to the Super Bowl once again.
