With the 2026 NFL season starting to take shape, Pro Football Focus writer Bradley Locker decided to break down some of the best teams that haven't won a Super Bowl over the past 20 years, and the Philadelphia Eagles are unfortunately a part of it.

With the ability to use high-level analytics through their system (dating back to 2006), PFF listed their top 10 non-championship rosters according to their writers.

For this list, Locker used its own metrics while incorporating traditional stats to compile its rankings. As fans of the NFL have seen, some teams will often either cruise or barely sneak into the playoffs, only to put together a legendary playoff run that cements their place in history with a Lombardi Trophy. In their recent list, the NFL writers at PFF believe that the Nick Sirianni-led 2022 Eagles are the fifth-best team not to win a Super Bowl since 2006.

2022 Eagles ranked fifth among the best teams in the last 20 years to not win a Super Bowl

The 2022 Eagles team was the first Super Bowl run led by Sirianni in only his second season with the team. It was Jalen Hurts' second season as the franchise quarterback, who led the team to an NFC East title with a 14-3 record, followed by dominating the Giants (38-7) and the quarterback-less 49ers (31-7), before losing to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.

The 2022 Eagles team rostered six All-Pros and eight Pro Bowlers during their championship run, leading the NFL with an overall PFF grade of 93.7, with their offense ranked second and their defense first. The metric shows that the team was extremely balanced in its dominant 2022 season, on both sides of the ball.

In addition to the overall team success and the postseason accolades, six players also recorded PFF grades of at least 84.5, with four of them coming from the offensive side of the ball.

While the 2022 Eagles team had plenty of promise, ultimately, their Super Bowl loss was one that was covered in controversy due to an incomplete pass that was negated by cornerback James Bradberry being called for a holding penalty against JuJu Smith-Schuster. While I'm sure the 2022 Eagles appreciate the recognition by PFF, they most certainly would rather have hoisted a Lombardi Trophy than walk off in the confetti.
