Never change, Howie. Never change.

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is a master at executing trades during the NFL Draft.

Roseman knows when he has been able to get a trade done, whether it's moving up on a player that had dropped in the draft or trading down to collect more picks. That was evident during the 2026 NFL Draft, when he traded up three picks with the Dallas Cowboys in the first round to select wide receiver Makai Lemon and traded two third-round picks to the Minnesota Vikings for former Pro Bowl edge rusher Jonathan Greenard.

There is one thing Roseman has done more often than anyone else in the last three years, though: trade down. Pride of Detroit writer Jeremy Reisman shared the top five teams that have traded down in the draft since 2024, with the Eagles being number one at 11.

  • Eagles (11)
  • Bills (10)
  • Patriots (7)
  • Texans (6)
  • Seahawks (6)

Howie Roseman has traded down more than anyone since 2024

The main reason Roseman trades down so often is to collect on draft picks, either to use right away or to stock up for the future. Philly has been focused on getting younger with the roster and adding more rookies to the team.

This strategy has been used to acquire some great players for the future and to execute more trades. Roseman has been doing it for a while now, even going back five to 10 years, which has led to three Super Bowl appearances and two titles since 2017.

Don't expect the Eagles and Roseman to change how he goes about trades because it is the recipe for success. If anything, expect more of it to come in the next few years, with the upcoming A.J. Brown trade being the spark that'll start up more trades for picks to be used in other trades through the draft.
