Welcome to a new era of Philadelphia Eagles football, where the team has a very different feel to it despite many of the same characters being here.
A new face to the group that has had quite the imprint on the squad is Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. When Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni brought Mannion in for his first play-calling job, the goal was to improve the offense after finishing in the bottom 15 last year in total offense, passing, rushing, and scoring.
Mannion certainly has done that with a brand-new scheme coming to Philly that promises everything this unit was missing last year, including motions, RPOs, and passing from all over the field. It also gave him a chance to build up a position group that desperately needed it more than any other on the team.
The Eagles completely gave the wide receiver room a face lift with brand new talent
Philly's biggest move in the room was trading A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots. For months, everyone knew the move was coming, which led the Eagles' general manager, Howie Roseman, to work on adding new talent at wide receiver.
DeVonta Smith is still in town but has moved up as the number-one receiver in the offense. Smith has some new friends, though, with the additions of rookie Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, and Elijah Moore.
Lemon brings a little bit of everything to the offense, but most importantly is a young guy who can develop in this offense. He will be playing out of the slot, which is perfect, as he's got great hands, smooth route-running skills, and is quicker with his feet than many might think.
Wicks is the one who is physically taking over A.J. Brown's spot on the outside. The Eagles will use Wicks in goal-line situations and throw the ball up to him to catch in contested one-on-one opportunities.
Hollywood Brown is an interesting case of someone who may not start, but still has a pivotal role in this offense. The Eagles have finally given quarterback Jalen Hurts the deep threat receiver he has been missing for the last six years since being in Philly, with Brown's speed being unmatched by most in the NFL.
Moore may be a wild card on the roster, but he does give the Eagles another look at the wide receiver position. He will have to compete with Johnny Wilson and Darius Cooper for the WR4 and WR5 spots on the roster.

Last year, the Eagles only really had A.J. Brown and Smith to throw it to at receiver, with Jahan Dotson not being a factor at all at WR3. With the pieces the Eagles have added to the wide receiver room heading into 2026, this group is deeper than it ever has been, leaving a lot of possibilities open for this offense in the new year.
