There is a lot of commentary around the Philadelphia Eagles right now, with much of the conversation centered on the future of head coach Nick Sirianni.
FOX Sports released an article listing Sirianni as the No. 2 head coach in the hottest seats going into 2026. Eagles legend Jason Kelce made his weekly appearance on SportsRadio 94 WIP, where he was asked about Sirianni being on the hot seat. While Kelce initially shut it down, he wasn't completely dismissive.
"I wouldn't say going into the season Nick Sirianni is on the hot seat...but if things don't go well, it wouldn't surprise me if the Eagles are like, listen, we want to abort and try something new because that's the way this thing is going in the league."
Jason Kelce thinks there's a chance that Nick Sirianni could lose his job
This isn't really anything new for the Eagles, as Sirianni went into the 2024 season on the hot seat, and it got even hotter when they started 2-2 going into their bye week. Sirianni shut down those hot-seat narratives by losing only one more game before winning the Super Bowl to end the season.
The conversation will be taken a little more seriously this year, since Sirianni has now whiffed on two internal hires for offensive coordinator in the last three years. That is a troubling sign that Sirianni might struggle with finding high-potential coaches who are ready to take the next step in their careers.
It does seem a bit crazy to have Sirianni in the conversation of potentially being fired since he has won 59 regular season games, been to two Super Bowls, and won one. The problem is that the Eagles have high expectations now, and anything short of winning it all is a disappointment, especially after losing in the Wild Card round twice in three seasons.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has a much different standard for coaches than other owners, as he expects to win it all every year. Remember that even though Doug Pederson missed the playoffs just twice in five years, he was still fired after the 2020 season, and Andy Reid was fired two years after making the playoffs; the same goes for Chip Kelly.

The pressure is certainly on Sirianni in 2026 to get this Eagles team back on track, or he could be looking for a new job in 2027.
