All week long at the NFL owners meeting, the message has been the same from the Philadelphia Eagles: A.J. Brown is an Eagle.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni were the first to share that message with the media after being asked about Brown, after all the trade rumors that surround him. Owner Jeffrey Lurie is now the third and final one from the leadership group to respond to a Brown question.
"We kept saying A.J.’s an Eagle," Lurie said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "I will just say this: DeVonta and A.J., two great receivers and also great teammates. I just want to say that. These two are wonderful to have, and great teammates, and great receivers. So he’s an Eagle. We’ll see what happens down the road."
Jeffrey Lurie still has the same A.J. Brown message with DeVonta Smith involved
To Lurie's credit, he did change it up a bit as he also took the time to praise Brown's partner in crime at wide receiver, Smith. The two combined for 2,011 yards and 11 touchdowns last season with the Eagles.
All indications are that at some point after June 1, the Eagles are most likely going to trade Brown away with the New England Patriots as the favorites to land him. There might be other contenders in the conversations, but Brown to the Patriots seems very likely.
That would put Smith in the driver's seat to be the number one receiver in the offense, even if others feel he already has been. Philly would have Marquise "Hollywood" Brown and Elijah Moore as the next guys in line, along with Johnny Wilson and Darius Cooper, competing for playing time if a wide receiver does not get selected in the NFL Draft.

It'll be a long two months, but it appears the "A.J. Brown is an Eagle" answer might finally be done with for the time being.
