Everyone just loves hating on the Philadelphia Eagles and counting them out.
It's nothing new, as the Eagles have been doubted since last year's offensive struggles and the drama with A.J. Brown, which apparently is affecting their standing in the power rankings now. NFL Spin Zone's Sayre Bedinger shared his NFC power rankings, where he has the Eagles ranked eighth.
"The Philadelphia Eagles feel like they're on the cusp of a major turn for the worst. This is a team that just won the Super Bowl two seasons ago, and now it feels like you have to really squint to see the best-case outcome for this team in 2026. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles' offense were 19th in the NFL in scoring last season, 24th in the league in 3rd down percentage. They had one of the worst offenses in the league when it came to three-and-outs. It just doesn't feel like the Eagles are going to be able to skate by with talent, and the offense will have to make strides this season without AJ Brown. At this point, Brown getting traded to the Patriots is all but a done deal. The Eagles moved up for Makai Lemon in this year's draft, so they'll be leaning on a rookie to pick up some significant slack. The additions of Jonathan Greenard and Riq Woolen could be huge for the Eagles' defense, but even a top-5 defense couldn't prevent this team from getting bounced in the playoffs right away last year. The offense must be better."
This power rankings only gets worse for the Eagles
If being placed as the eighth-best team in the NFC wasn't bad enough, how about the teams Bedinger believes are better than the Eagles? He had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ranked seventh, and the Dallas Cowboys ranked sixth.
Yes, two teams who missed the postseason last year got ahead of the Eagles.
Last year was rough for the Eagles' offense, but let's not pretend that they didn't dramatically improve on that side of the ball. They hired a young offensive play-caller in Sean Mannion, who is bringing a whole new scheme to the table while adding talent like Makai Lemon, Eli Stowers, Marquise Brown, and Dontayvion Wicks. That's on top of who they have now with Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Lane Johnson, and Jordan Mailata.
Even on defense, they are loaded with Greenard helping out with the edge rushers and Woolen improving the CB2 position. This defense is in much better shape heading into the 2026 training camp than it was last year.

While the Eagles might not quite be at the Super Bowl level the fan base would want them to be, to say that the Bucs and Cowboys are better than them might be the most outrageous take of the offseason. Eagles fans know the truth.
