Eagles' latest predictions would be a regression for 2026 (but there's a catch)

Over the last five seasons, the Philadelphia Eagles have not only not finished worse than second in the NFC East, but the team has also made the playoffs each year, too. It's been an insanely successful tenure for Nick Sirianni, who is suddenly approaching year six.

However, and in odd fashion, the Eagles have still been a bit of a dysfunctional mess from time to time. Philly has won double-digit games in four-straight seasons, but in 2023 and 2025, the Eagles went 11-6 and did struggle throughout the season.

Both years also ended with a one-and-done playoff. Somehow, Philly has been one of the winningest teams in the league for the last half-decade, but has also been a team that always seems to have some form of drama brewing. It's been yet another season for the team with a new offensive coordinator, and the latest predictions would mean a regression in the 2026 NFL Season, but with an interesting catch.

Philadelphia Eagles predicted to win fewer games... but still win the NFC East in 2026

Predicted to go 10-7 by Moe Moton in Bleacher Report, the Eagles would regress in 2026 if these predictions came true, but the team would still be predicted to win the division:

"The Philadelphia Eagles have made the playoffs in five consecutive years. Despite turnover at the offensive coordinator position and reported locker-room drama around quarterback Jalen Hurts, they're still the most consistent team in the NFC East.

Thanks to general manager Howie Roseman, the Eagles have had stacked rosters in recent seasons, and that's the case this year.

In free agency, Philadelphia signed Riq Woolen, who's a significant upgrade over the team's rotation of No. 2 cornerbacks last season. The club acquired wideout Dontayvion Wicks from the Green Bay Packers. Roseman moved up for wide receiver Makai Lemon in the first round of the draft and acquired edge-rusher Jonathan Greenard from the Minnesota Vikings.

In all likelihood, the Eagles will trade A.J. Brown, who expressed his frustrations with the offense last year. With the addition of Lemon and Wicks, the Eagles seemed prepared to move the star wideout elsewhere.

Philadelphia fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and replaced him with Sean Mannion, who's a first-time play-caller. Running back Saquon Barkley will probably take on a heavy workload while Hurts and Co. get acclimated to a new system.

In 2025, the Eagles went 3-3 within the division. The NFC East will be more competitive this year. The New York Giants hired John Harbaugh. The Dallas Cowboys added defensive playmakers. If Jayden Daniels stays healthy, the Washington Commanders will be a tough matchup.

Even with a talented roster, the Eagles won't be able to compensate for losing Brown if they trade him. Moreover, Mannion is an unproven play-caller who may lose chess matches against experienced defensive coordinators.

Yet still, Philadelphia notches 10 wins thanks to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's stout unit."

This is a solid assessment from Moton. The Eagles have built such strong rosters in recent years that the team's floor is insanely high. Philly felt like a 'just OK' team in 2023 and 2025, but both years were still 11-6 seasons and playoff appearances.

A potential 10-7 season would be the fifth double-digit winning season in a row for the team, and would also be the fourth NFC East title during that stretch. The one thing that the Eagles will have to look out for in 2026 is the improvement of the other three teams in the NFC East.

The Dallas Cowboys overhauled the defensive side of the ball and already sport a top-7 offense. The New York Giants brought in a future Hall of Fame head coach in John Harbaugh and have a young quarterback in Jaxson Dart who played quite well as a rookie.

The Washington Commanders went heavy in free agency to shore up many spots on the defensive side of the ball, and it wasn't long ago that this team went 12-5 and made the NFC Championship Game. Philly winning the division at 10-7 in 2026 would also likely mean that none of Dallas, New York, or Washington's offseason changes were anything notable.

While winning 10 games in the NFL is a huge challenge, it's not impossible.

Beyond the NFC East, winning the division at 10-7 likely would mean the third or fourth seed in the conference, and that could end up being a slight disadvantage, as Philly would absolutely have to go on the road in that instance.
