With about three weeks to go before the 2026 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles are going through all kinds of evaluations on players to make sure they are going to make the right choices.
Where Eagles general manager Howie Roseman does his best work is on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, and finding those guys that no one is talking about that could end up being starters. Roseman might have found one that could be an instant contributor on the team.
Eagles reporter Anthony DiBona was told by a source that the team has a virtual meeting with Florida edge rusher George Gumbs Jr. Last season with the Gators, Gumbs had 31 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

While Gumbs is projected to be selected between the fourth and seventh rounds, he is a guy who is starting to catch some attention. He had a solid NFL Combine workout, running a 4.66-second 40-yard dash and posting a vertical of 41 inches.
Without Jaelan Phillips now, the Eagles have some work to do with their edge rusher room. They did add Arnold Ebiketie and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka in free agency to add depth to the position, but it has not been enough to give fans confidence that they can get the job done.
For now, it is Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith Jr. who will be starting for them. Someone like Gumbs wouldn't be a Day 1 starter, but he could at least develop and get into the rotation early on.
Last year was a harsh lesson for the Eagles about having the right edge rushers in place as Phillips transformed the pass rush with his arrival. Philly might be facing that same situation without Phillips, so depth is going to be key.
