Eagles lost another OC candidate (but this time it wasn't quite a withdrawal)

It's an improvement. Right?

Stop us when Philadelphia Eagles fans have read this sentence before: the Eagles lost another offensive coordinator candidate.

That's right, another coach is out on the job, but this time it wasn't necessarily a full-on withdrawal. NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that former New York Giants interim head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will join the Detroit Lions in a "high-ranking offensive staff role."

Kafka was considered one of the top candidates for the Eagles' offensive coordinator job as he was one of the first to interview for the opening. His connection with Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, from when they were teammates with the Giants, was a big reason he was considered a top candidate.

Eagles once again, again, again lose an OC candidate

Eagles fans are just taking a beating, losing all these candidates for the offensive coordinator, but there must be some reason for it. The positive-thinking fans would think the Eagles are narrowing their list down to a few names. Any negative Eagles fans might consider that the problems on offense are just too much for the team to handle.

Now on the list, the top names for the offensive coordinator job must be between Jim Bob Cooter and Brian Daboll, at least from the ones that have interviewed. Despite Daboll being the top candidate, it still feels as though he is out of the running and looking at a better option. Cooter could realistically win the job, as he might get a chance to call the plays, since he is not doing so with the Indianapolis Colts.

The hope is that new names like Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Brady will find themselves randomly in the race as they are considered top candidates for multiple teams. Being able to bring in Kingsbury or Brady would be a win for the fan base and get them excited, even if they stay for just one season.

This holding pattern has been bad for Eagles fans, as they just want this coaching search to finally come to an end and move forward with whoever the guy is.
