Are we not going to call him at all?

The search for a new offensive coordinator continues, and things haven't looked as promising as some Philadelphia Eagles fans would have hoped.

Going into the third week of the search, multiple candidates have withdrawn their names from consideration as the Eagles narrow the list and try to find the right guy. From a public perspective, it's not a great look, but it might be even worse to know that someone they know very well could soon land a new job they haven't even spoken to.

SNY reporter Connor Hughes reported that the New York Jets and Frank Reich are "progressing" in talks to join the coaching staff, with Reich potentially serving as the play caller but not the offensive coordinator. Reich was the offensive coordinator for the Eagles in 2016 and 2017, who helped the team win their first Super Bowl before taking the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job.

Are the Eagles missing out on Frank Reich as offensive coordinator?

Yes, Doug Pederson called the plays for the Eagles when he was the head coach, and Reich was the offensive coordinator during those two years they were together. Even so, the Eagles could bring Reich in for an interview and pick his brain on what helped him win the Super Bowl.

This would be a name Eagles fans would recognize and associate with the good times that the team could really use. Reich proved in 2017 that he and Pederson can adapt to different quarterback styles, with Carson Wentz more athletic and Nick Foles more of a pocket passer.

It's not like the Eagles have many candidates left to pick from, as the list of those still wanting the job is starting to dwindle. The suspected top candidates at this point are Brian Daboll and Jim Bob Cooter, unless Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Brady all of a sudden jump into the race.

Philly seems to have a long way to go on finding the right offensive coordinator for the job, so while Reich might not even be in the race, Eagles fans just want some kind of guidance on who is in the running.
