Roster moves get made all the time by Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, as he tries to better the team.
With less than a week before training camp, Roseman is trying to make sure he gets the Eagles in the right spot. There's an option he is weighing, and he's weighing the pros and cons before making a decision.
It was reported that linebacker Chandler Martin was brought in for a visit with the Eagles. Martin spent about a month during the offseason before being released by Philly. He spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, mostly on special teams.

Originally, Martin was brought in to compete for the final linebacker spot, but needed to make room for former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Samori Toure. This was all in anticipation of what would become the A.J. Brown trade to the New England Patriots.
Martin is working his way back after tearing his ACL last season with the Ravens, so as Sports Illustrated Eagles reporter John McMullen suggested on X, the Eagles could be checking in on his rehab. In three games last season, Martin collected five tackles with Baltimore.
If the Eagles were to go down the route of bringing back Martin for training camp, it would be a clear signal that there is going to be competition at linebacker. He would have to face off against undrafted rookie Deontae Lawson.
Over the last two months, Lawson has been a very popular name as the best undrafted rookie on the Eagles' roster. He has been selected by everyone to be the undrafted rookie with the best shot to make the team.
Lawson was a teammate of fellow linebacker Jihaad Campbell at Alabama. Last season, Lawson racked up 80 tackles, four pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and 1.5 sacks.
This could end up being trouble for Lawson if Martin comes back to Philly. Martin will have a slight advantage since he played well on special teams with the Ravens last season. On the flip side, Martin might be healthier, giving him an edge there.

It would make for an intriguing training camp battle, but it also would give Lawson more resistance to make the Eagles' roster. Now it's the waiting game to see if Roseman takes a chance on bringing in Martin.
