Every move the Philadelphia Eagles make is just another reminder that it is truly the end of the line for star wide receiver A.J. Brown.
The rumor is that Brown will be traded from the Eagles, most likely to the New England Patriots, in the early part of next month. That means Philly needs to make sure they have enough bodies at wide receiver to get through OTAs and training camp.
On the second day of OTAs, the Eagles announced the signing of wide receiver Brandon Hayes. Last year, Hayes attended Southeastern Louisiana, where he caught 19 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns.
Eagles bring in another wide receiver who will fill A.J. Brown's spot
It feels as though Hayes did not have much of a shot at making the 53-man roster for the Eagles, since they are already so deep at wide receiver. The top half of the depth chart is already loaded with weapons in DeVonta Smith, rookie Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Elijah Moore, Johnny Wilson, and Darius Cooper.
Philly is just trying to bring in as many receivers as possible to help get them through the next few months before the season begins. Cooper was an undrafted free agent who made the team last year, so Eagles fans can't 100% count out Hayes from making it.
This move also makes it clear that the Eagles are still filling Brown's spot for when he is eventually traded next week. Philly will at least have the wide receiver position done with, so they can replace him with another player, as that will drop them to 90 players. The Eagles can have 91 players, since rookie seventh-round pick Uar Bernard is an international exemption.

Knowing Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, more moves will eventually be made to improve the roster.
