A tough break for one of the biggest rivals to the Philadelphia Eagles, as a new injury that occurred could impact the 2026 season.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that New York Giants wide receiver Gunner Olszewski was carted off the field during the team's OTAs. Sources tell Schefter that Olszewski is feared to have torn his Achilles, but he will undergo further testing to determine the extent of the injury.

Olszewski played in 16 games with the Giants last year, catching 10 passes for 145 yards and one touchdown. He also had 24 punt returns for 216 yards as well as 26 kickoff returns for 682 yards.

Giants take a massive hit with Gunner Olszewski's injury

While Olszewski is not the team's top receiver, the Giants will feel his loss in multiple ways. New York is already dealing with Malik Nabers recovering from his injury while also having new receivers on the team with rookie Malachi Fields, Darnell Mooney, and Calvin Austin III.

New York is potentially losing a veteran receiver in Olszewski, who has worked with quarterback Jaxson Dart in the past year. It is also a big hit on special teams, since he was one of their main returners, so the Giants will have to look for another on the roster.

This shouldn't affect the Eagles' hopes of winning the NFC East for the third straight season, as they have proven they can get it done no matter how the rest of the division is performing. Philly needs to worry about the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders more, as those are teams that are more likely to contend in 2026.

The Eagles roll through the first week of OTAs with no major issues, while the Giants are dealing with issues on and off the field, making the road to a division title that much easier for Philly.
