All offseason, the conversation once again has been that Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is back on the hot seat after an 11-6 season filled with drama, but some people still have high regard for him.
Sirianni has faced some pressure because of his handling of the A.J. Brown situation, as well as hiring the wrong offensive coordinator and firing them after one season for the second time in three years. Bleacher Report writer Gary Davenport gave his rankings of the top 10 head coaches in the NFL, and despite being on the hot seat, Sirianni comes in at number six.
"This will no doubt be one of the more polarizing rankings on this list—for every person (usually in Philadelphia) who thinks Nick Sirianni is a great head coach, there's another who believes the Eagles win as much in spite of him as because of him. The results are indisputable. In five seasons at the helm in Philly, Sirianni is 59-26 in the regular season. That's a .694 winning percentage. His Eagles have made the playoffs all five years. Advanced to the Super Bowl twice. And beaten the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX."
"However, there have been bumps on the road, whether it was questionable coordinator hirings or a late-season collapse in 2023. Sirianni has to be the only coach in the top 10 who is seemingly perpetually on the hot seat."
Nick Sirianni makes the top 10 despite being on the hot seat
It's a shame that no one respects the work Sirianni has done after winning nearly 70% of the games he has coached. Not many coaches have taken their teams to the Super Bowl twice and won one within a three-year span.
Sirianni has had to juggle a lot of drama around the team over the years, including Brown's constant complaining and reports about Jalen Hurts. With all that happening, Sirianni has kept the team focused on winning and getting it done.
The one eye sore to Sirianni's resume is his lack of success with picking coordinators in recent years. He orignially hit home runs with Shane Steichen and Jonathan Gannon in his first two seasons as they both became head coaches, but since then has fired two offensive coordinators and a defensive coordinator. Vic Fangio has worked out great so far and Kellen Moore became a head coach after the 2024 season, so Siriann deserves a little more respect with coaching hires.

Someday, Sirianni will get the respect he deserves, but for now, most people will knock him down and want him fired. At least someone knows that he's among one of the best coaches in the NFL.
