While the Philadelphia Eagles continue their search for a replacement for former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, the New York Giants might be close to making a smart decision at head coach, which is bad news for the Birds.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Giants and former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh are working on finalizing a deal that would make him the head coach of the team. Harbaugh flew to the Giants' facility on Wednesday to meet with the team for several hours, including with quarterback Jaxson Dart, in hopes of closing a deal. He is next meeting with the Tennessee Titans at his home first, and potentially the Atlanta Falcons next.
Harbaugh spent the last 18 seasons as the Ravens' head coach, winning over 180 games and leading the team to one Super Bowl championship. He was fired after the season as the team finished with an 8-9 record and missed the postseason.
This is all bad news for the Eagles with Harbaugh on the verge of being in New York
Eagles fans will feel the sting of this one: before Harbaugh was the head coach of the Ravens, he was a longtime assistant to Andy Reid in Philadelphia. Harbaugh was the special teams coordinator and was responsible for many of the team's special teams successes, including kicker David Akers and Brian Westbrook's return punts.
Now, Harbaugh could be taking over a Giants team that went 4-13 and missed the playoffs while finishing dead last in the NFC East. They currently hold the number five overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
This feels like a hire on the same level as Tom Coughlin was when the Giants hired him, and that went horribly for Eagles fans, as New York won two Super Bowls with him as head coach. The potential of this deal would seismically flip in the NFC East and the NFL on its head.

Philadelphia is going to have to nail their offensive coordinator hire now more than ever, as the NFC East is about to get a lot harder with the potential of Harbaugh in the same division.
