The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing for life without wide receiver A.J. Brown as they do their homework at the position.

There have been several names, including Louisville's Chris Bell and Washington's Denzel Boston, attached to the Eagles either through mock drafts or visits. NFL Draft on SI's Justin Melo added another name as he interviewed with Cincinnati wide receiver Jeff Caldwell, who shared who he had visited and met with this offseason.

"I’ve enjoyed the process. It’s been going well. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’m seeing parts of the world I’ve never seen. I went to Pittsburgh for a Top 30 visit with the Steelers. I’ve also hopped on Zoom meetings with the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, and a bunch of others."

Jeff Caldwell is the latest WR to meet with Eagles

Caldwell played his first three seasons in college at Lindenwood before transferring to Cincinnati last year. In 2025, he caught 32 passes for 478 yards and six touchdowns, but it was his NFL Combine workout that had teams buzzing about him. He ran a 4.31-second 40-yard dash and was the top wide receiver at the board jump with 11 feet, 2 inches.

Philly will be able to get Caldwell late in the NFL Draft and give them a solid Day 3 option at receiver. NFL mock drafts have the Eagles taking a wide receiver in the first three rounds, but they could wait on it, as they have to fill other positions like offensive line, edge rusher, tight end, and safety as well.

If the Eagles trade Brown, Caldwell wouldn't have to rush onto the field, as he could sit behind DeVonta Smith, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, and Elijah Moore to learn how to be an NFL wide receiver. Caldwell could also be used on special teams to put that blazing speed to use.

The Eagles are going to have options at wide receiver, but if they could wait until Day 3 in the draft to find one, that would be a great move on their part for the future.
