With the conclusion of the 2025 NFL regular season coming up, the Eagles will take on the Josh Johnson-led Washington Commanders. While the Eagles' season will continue into the Wild Card round, the Commanders will be one of 18 franchises whose seasons ended much earlier than expected.
With the end of the regular season inevitably comes the infamous Black Monday, when some NFL teams may decide to go in a different direction for their franchise, often leading to the firing of their head coach, general manager, or both.
This time of year, the media and analysts have been speculating throughout the season about which teams will decide to go in another direction and which teams have the "hot candidates" vying for a promotion. Recently, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer put together a list of several candidates for general managers that they believe could get an opportunity very soon, one of whom is Alec Halaby, the Eagles' assistant GM.
Eagles might have future NFL general manager in their front office
Halaby has been called the Eagles' protégé since joining the organization in 2007. Working his way up from an intern, Halaby has spent 18 seasons with the Eagles in roles such as Player Personnel Analyst, Special Assistant to the General Manager, Vice President of Football Operations and Strategy, and now Assistant GM, becoming Roseman's right-hand man.
Because of the diverse nature of Halaby's background, he's developed a diverse background from analytics while also working with scouts from a player personnel side as well, combined with an Ivy League education from Harvard Halaby has many of the tools, along with the "pedigree" to be an attractive hire for NFL organizations in need.

While it's currently unknown how many coaches and GMs will be fired this off-season, the Eagles hopefully will not have to worry about Halaby taking interviews until late-January. Halaby and the Eagles are looking to make their fifth straight playoff run as the team hopes to win its 2nd consecutive Super Bowl Championship.
