Eagles reportedly met with defender at school that Howie Roseman always targets

Yep makes sense.

Everyone knows by now that Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has a love for selecting Georgia Bulldogs defensive players.

Over the years, Roseman has picked great defenders like Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith Jr., and Nakobe Dean from the school. That trend is most likely going to continue in the 2026 NFL Draft as there are some good candidates from the program that could be instant contributors to the Eagles right away.

Eagles reporter James Simone shared that NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reported that Philly recently had a Zoom meeting with Georgia linebacker C.J. Allen. Last year, Allen was a first-team All-American and first-team All-SEC selection after racking up 88 tackles, four pass deflections, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

Eagles meet with Georgia linebacker C.J. Allen that would fit their draft trend

Allen did not work out at the NFL Combine and did not run at his Pro Day, as he has been dealing with a knee injury from his meniscus tear from back in November. He has been projected to go late in the first round or early in the second round in the 2026 NFL Draft.

This is one that might be considered more of a surprise since the Eagles have other needs to fill. The linebacker position, despite Dean departing to the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency during the offseason, is in a good spot with Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell expected to be the starters in 2026.

Everyone seems high on Allen to eventually be a solid starter in the NFL, but questions about his movement and concerns about the knee have prevented him from being a top 20 projected selection. It may take a bit for him to get there, but at the same time, Roseman is known for taking risks on injury-prone players in the draft, and that has worked out well for him.

There's no doubt Allen is a good player, but Eagles fans would question selecting him in the first round. Taking him in the second round? They might be okay with.
