Well if no one thought that the Philadelphia Eagles were going to trade wide receiver A.J. Brown, their latest move might convince them it's going to happen.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles are trading a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks. The Packers selected Wicks in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

He got off to a strong start with 581 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his rookie season. His production has gone down over the last two years as he finished up his Packers career with 108 receptions for 1,328 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Eagles make stunning trade for Dontayvion Wicks, sending a message about A.J. Brown

This should solidify that Brown is going to be traded as the Eagles don't make a trade like this without thinking about life after him on offense. Brown is more than gone at this point as it is just a matter of timing.

Wicks will come in and compete for the WR3 job with Marquise "Hollywood" Brown moving into the WR2 role. That would leave DeVonta Smith as the number one guy if A.J. Brown is traded of course.

Philly making this trade makes a ton of sense as they got more of a possession receiver position on the outside. It also helps that Wicks has worked under new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion in Green Bay over the last two years. Wicks will know Mannion's system and be able to help his new teammates with learning the scheme.

This is a smart trade by the Eagles, but one that will have a lot of consequences. It is almost official now that the team is going to trade Brown away. Where to is the next question to be answered.
