After the massive signing of Riq Woolen in free agency, the Eagles were not done making moves at cornerback and have yet to make another addition to the room.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Eagles have agreed to a one-year deal with former Washington Commanders cornerback Jonathan Jones. The 2025 season was the first for Jones after spending his first nine years in the NFL with the New England Patriots, as he went undrafted.
Jones has appeared in 144 games and started 78 of them. Last season, in 12 games (seven of those starts), Jones finished with 41 tackles, five pass deflections, one tackle for loss, and one quarterback hit.

One regret that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman had last season was that he did not do enough at cornerback during the offseason. Roseman signed Adoree' Jackson to compete for the CB2 job and selected Mac McWilliams on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, but that was it for signings after letting Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, and James Bradberry walk in free agency.
Since then, Roseman has gone overboard on adding corners, making three trades last season for cornerbacks. While it didn't work out with Jarie Alexander, Michael Carter II, and Jakorian Bennett, Roseman hasn't stopped making sure he doesn't repeat that mistake.
This offseason, Roseman has so far signed former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen to compete for the CB2 job. Jones now comes into the picture and will most likely compete with Woolen for that job. One good thing about Jones is that he has experience in the slot as well, so even if he doesn't start, he's got some versatility to him.

The Eagles are going to make sure they have enough depth at cornerback this offseason so that they are better prepared on defense in 2026.
