After the offense struggled in 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles made swift changes, with Sean Mannion replacing Kevin Patullo as the offensive coordinator, but that was just the beginning.
While the coaching staff still needs to be finalized, the Eagles will be looking at the roster this offseason to see who best fits the offense. Obviously, the number one name is going to be wide receiver A.J. Brown and what the Eagles plan to do with him.
There are other key free agents on offense that are going to get some looks as well, with wide receiver Jahan Dotson being one of them. Another one, though, underachieved so badly that Mannion most likely won't be giving him a second look despite the two knowing each other.
Sean Mannion should not look back at A.J. Dillon returning to Philly in 2026
Mannion and A.J. Dillon are familiar with each other from their time with the Green Bay Packers. Dillon was a running back for the Packers in 2024 despite being on IR with his neck injury, while Mannion was serving his first year as a coach.
Dillon would depart for free agency where the Eagles signed him to a one-year contract to initially be the backup to Saquon Barkley. That did not turn out to be the case as one fateful game would cost Dillion a chance to play the rest of the year.
In the Week 6 matchup against the New York Giants, Dillon managed to muff a kickoff and then, a few plays later, fumble the ball on offense that would eliminate any chance of a comeback as the Eagles lost. After that game, Dillon was never active for another game again.
Dillon finished the season with 12 carries for 60 yards and three receptions for 21 yards. He added two kickoffs for 25 yards in just seven games.
It was pretty apparent by the middle of the season that Eagles fans saw the writing on the wall that Dillon was going to be a one-and-done player in Philly. While there's no doubt he could potentially be able to still play, he just wasn't a fit for the Eagles.

Despite a short overlap between the two, Mannion shouldn't even give a second glance at Dillon being back on the roster with Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley there behind Saquon Barkley. Dillon is most likely moving on, and not many in Philly will miss him.
