Philadelphia Eagles fans knew the potential of rookie first-round pick Makai Lemon was through the roof, but he might be even better than some think.
The Eagles traded up three spots from pick 23 to pick 20 with the Dallas Cowboys to select the young wide receiver out of USC. Lemon is seen as the replacement for A.J. Brown, who has since been traded to the New England Patriots.
While Eagles fans were not able to attend the minicamps over the last month, the team posted a video on social media featuring highlights from them. Lemon got the showcase why the Eagles selected him as the one thing that was noticed with his route running was how explosive he was off the line.
Makai Lemon looks fast on the field with Eagles
The former 2025 Fred Biletnikoff winner seems to be everything as advertised for the Eagles after seeing those highlights. Everyone knew he wasn't the tallest or even the fastest, but he didn't look that way in the video as he was quick and precise in his routes.
During the offseason, Lemon ran between a 4.46 and 4.53-second 40-yard dash, which might be considered average compared to other rookies in the class. That speed doesn't account for the acceleration he shows on the field, which seems faster than his 40-yard time.
Philly seems to have made the right move with Lemon so far, as he had a solid minicamp performance with the Eagles. Unfortunately, he did get injured and missed some time, but he is expected to be ready for training camp.

The Eagles are going to be leaning on Lemon to be that WR2 for DeVonta Smith, so there is no messing around with him. From the clips being shown, Lemon looks more than ready to step up and be the guy Philly needs him to be in Year 1.
