There will be a new offensive coordinator in Philadelphia after Kevin Patullo was fired with just one year on the job, to the delight of 99% of the Eagles fan base.

Now comes the tough part for Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni as he searches for the next man to lead the offense, as this will be the fifth new offensive coordinator in six years for the Birds. While trying to come up with the best candidates for the job on the ESPN show NFL Live, NFL analyst Marcus Spears had a crazy dream idea for the Eagles.

"I got a name. I don't want to make people mad, though," Spears said. "I don't know if OCs make lateral movements, but I would try to get Joe Brady on the phone."

Joe Brady is a perfect name, but way too challenging for the Eagles to go after

During that segment on NFL Live talking about the Patullo news, the crew talked about finding an offensive coach that could match the scheme to Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts' skill set, and Mina Kimes had suggested finding a coach that can help with getting Philly back to dominating on the ground and being more balanced offensively.

That's why Spears had suggested Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brady, which would actually be an ideal name for the job. After Ken Dorsey was fired in 2023 as the Bills' offensive coordinator late in the season, Brady turned Buffalo from a pass-happy team to a more well-balanced offense between running and passing the ball with a mix of quarterback Josh Allen-designed runs in there.

Since then, Allen has won the NFL MVP in 2024, and the Bills moved on from top receiver Stefon Diggs after 2023 and still produced a top-10 offense in Buffalo while also helping running back James Cook win the rushing title in 2025. This is a prime example of what the Eagles should be doing.

Philly could get rid of A.J. Brown and just feed the ball to Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby while making Hurts run the ball five to 10 times a game. Hurts has a losing record when he throws the football 30 or more times a game, so giving him a perfect running game makes all the sense.

The problem is that this is a pipe dream. Brady has been linked to head coaching jobs, and let's be honest, it would be tough to convince him to leave Buffalo for the same job in Philadelphia. To top it off, if Brady doesn't get a head coaching gig, there's no way the Bills are letting Brady leave for another offensive coordinator job.

While Spears' idea is unrealistic with Brady, what he is going for makes all the sense in the world. Whatever the Bills are doing offensively, the Eagles need to have with their next offensive coordinator for Hurts.
